Wings On Wheels
$350.00
“On their first day of Colab Marrie Bottelson and Candice Simpson began their collaboration by exploring the Bakken Museum exhibits and discovered a fascinating Interactive exhibit where one can use the movements of their body to “paint” on 3 large digital displays. The 3 ways they created using their bodies were: 1-Marrie and Candice sat next to each other and created a painting using the movement of their feet. 2-Marrie sat in front of the largest display while Candice stood behind her, both using their arm and hand movements to create a painting. 3-The third way was by Marrie sitting in front of the display using her whole body movement while Candice ran back-and-forth behind her. “The Experience was so playful, freeing and mind opening to all the ways we can make art! Collaborating in this way led to our choice of what we painted about: hands, feet, wheelchairs… no barriers!”

Heavenly

Working with the word synergy, the interaction or cooperation of two or more agents to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate parts, but using it as “SIN”ergy. With the word sin to work with, that moved to the Seven Deadly Sins, and while doing research found they are mirrored with the Seven Heavenly Virtues. The research also showed that the Sins & Virtues had specific colors assigned to them. The sins, virtues, colors guided our creation process.
How did the word synergy, turn into “sin”ergy, and get transformed into art? Well, Parisi was curious about Palmer’s figurative “body process” style of art…and so, the journey began.
Palmer has been creating the abstract figurative work for just under 10 years, and they are a result of “the dance and how would one capture it in a single moment. Trying to take posed people and make them look like they are moving”. After working at an art store, Palmer took classes at the California Building in Figurative Drawing for a year. As the classes went on, Palmer found herself making the body drawing more abstract and drew more intuitively and was heavily influenced by her love of music – from Techno, to Disco, to House, & beyond.
Parisi has been drawing since she was a child and these “doodles” have now been affectionately named Zibble Zabbles during this project. These Zibble Zabbles have been worked into Parisi’s creations since she was 10-years old and have even been a form of a memory recall tool in certain situations. Recently Parisi has been exploring 3D aspects of broken glass, metal, resin relief, and wire in her art. Adding both the Zibble Zabble designs and the 3D wire to the figures, the synergy is powerful.
